On Sunday 1st December a bunch of volunteers – and an equally eclectic mix of furries – set out for a brisk walk on the shores of Rutland Water.
All to promote dog walking as an easy boost to physical and mental well-being.
In the work that we do helping the elderly and terminally ill with their pets – there is great opportunity to make a difference to many lives; the dogs themselves getting regular walks; the elderly or ill getting regular visits from us and sometimes being able to accompany us on the walks;
our own volunteers getting out and about in the fresh air in the act of helping!
So we took to the lakeside, enjoyed some bracing sunny weather and each other’s company, remembered old friends and toasted to the future – whilst improving our collective health and well being along the way!
Thanks must go to the Tesco, Bags of Help Scheme, who have sponsored us to pursue this mission.
Our next Community Walk will be in March 2020 – watch this space for details!
And it seems we managed to rehome this team member during the event. All sorts of unintended benefits from walking in the great outdoors?! A big thank you to all those who attended
